School sponsored, unpaid field-based training must take place in the presence of and under the direct supervision of a home inspector, professional engineer or architect all licensed and regulated by NYS. The supervising professional is fully responsible for each inspection and all resulting reports based on each inspection.
Alternatively, students have the option of completing the 40-hour unpaid field-based training requirement independently of the school, under the direct supervision of a sponsoring licensed home inspector, professional engineer or architect. A detailed log* of completed home inspections must be maintained by both the home inspector candidate and the supervising professional and are subject to review by the NYS Department of State.
